U3A Moorleigh in Bentleigh East has transformed its humble computer room into a hub of activity.
The training facility at 92 Bignell Rd, Bentleigh East has been re-badged as The Hub, and all U3A members are encouraged to use the resources as their personal computer space, similar to an Internet Café.
U3A Moorleigh continues to deliver scheduled computer courses on such topics as Windows 10, Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, using iPads and so on. In addition to those courses, The Hub is available for all U3A members to use to learn and practice new skills, seek assistance and get answers from our IT team, learn about online shopping and banking, Skype or Zoom with friends and family, or just play games!
With about 10% of U3A members still not connected, it is more important than ever to provide the opportunity and the environment in which seniors can access resources and develop online skills and confidence to thrive in this digital world. U3A Moorleigh strongly supports and promotes the federal government Be Connected initiative for all Australians (beconnected.esafety.gov.au).
Two of the popular one-day programmes currently being delivered each week by our IT instructors deals with Zoom Training for Beginners and Doing Business Online, where the emphasis is on banking and shopping online, accessing government services online, the pitfalls to watch out for, and staying safe online.
